Dear Folks!

This is a momentous year for me, one that makes me feel nostalgic ... Dancing Willow turns 30 this year! For three decades my staff and I have worked, nurtured and taken a deep dive into the love and healing offered at Dancing Willow Herbs. I have thought to myself... who does this? I did and I'm so grateful for the tenacity and gumption that guided me to stick to this career path and to have grown and been nurtured through it all. It all started in the tiny womb of an herb shop in the basement of the Ponder Pocket book store.  Anybody remember this? Barb and Marcy were fantastic for renting to me, a fledgling herbalist just out of herb school. You had to be "in the know" to find me in this basement where magic and creation was happening, and a dream was to become a reality.  

Many of you may not remember the 'good old days' of herbalism when there were just a few of us forging our way into an industry that wasn't even a household word. The awareness of herbal medicine was limited to a few fringe hippies and the back-to-earth movement. Herbalists like Rosemary Gladstar and Micheal Moore were our mentors and held the holy grail of herbalism. Herb companies and herbs shops were close to none. No one had ever heard of things like Echinacea, or Goldenseal and St Johns Wort. It was a dynamic time helping to pioneer herbalism in Durango, this sleepy 1990 neck of the woods.

Your input and feedback has been invaluable. This past year was unique. I hate to even mutter the word 'pandemic' as I'm so weary of it...but it was a time to truly offer up our plant healers as the titans of immune support that they are...and we heard, again and again, that you were supported, strong, and overwhelmingly WELL! That feels so good and supports our vision for whole body health as a gift of nature.   

Over the last 30 years we have evolved with the times, but have held fast to our commitment to honor the earth and her plant healers and to offer the most potent and pure, organically and ethically sourced products that we could possibly conceive. Herbalism has blossomed, especially in the last decade.  It has been an honor and a privilege to help people and to share my passion over the past 30 years. 

Never would I have thought in my early years that Dancing Willow would be a staple in our community. As a teen, when I first felt the spark, I had no idea what a gift it is to find a passion that will both sustain your soul AND create a livelihood. And help others!!! 30 years feels nostalgic and I hope you'll humor me as we take a walk through the Dancing Willow Archives over the next few months. It'll be fun...because it's not just us, it's you too! It's this funny town that was VERY different back then, and it's the evolution of a product line that was inspired by my personal research + passion + experience combined with your needs and feedback!
